Peruvanam Kuttan alias Sankaranarayan (57) belongs to Makoth marar family of Thrissur and the son of the maestro Peruvanam Appumarar. The leader of the world famous "Elenjithara melam" of Paramekkavu, Thrissur pooram since 1999, Kuttan marar was in the forefront of this greatest symphony on earth since early 1980’s. Well versed in all branches of Chendamelam, Kuttan marar has performed in Europe, UK, Middle East & Far East. Mr. Kuttan marar started his career in his early teens and has led more 300 concerts in a year now. Mr. Kuttan marar was awarded Padmasree by the Govt. of India recently. Mr. Kuttan is associated with Karamukku pooram (the most vibrant among the constituent poorams, as claimed) in Thrissur pooram since 1984 and leads the orchestra since 1998. Mr. Kuttan marar was awarded Padmasree by the Govt. of India recently. The organizers of the Karamukku pooram in Thrissur pooram convened a meeting to congratulate Padmasree Kuttan Marar at the temple premises on 24th April evening.
